STEAM LOCOMOTIVES. Group of four watercolor drawings of French and English locomotives. c. 1830 - 1861. Original pen, ink and watercolor drawings depicting locomotives (370 x 455 mm). 2 mounted. Condition: one drawing with tape repairs, some tissue backed, other light chipping, spotting, and soiling. Various drawings of French and English locomotives signed by William H. Quackenbush, Ch. St. Ferdinand, and JC. Two others are titled "Machine A Voyageurs type Crampton 1849" signed by F. Reynes, and "Machine Locomotive," signed Tabouret, G. An interesting group of early l.ocomotive drawings dating from the period of the rapid expansion of the rail networks both in France and England, the expansion driven by the Industrial Revolution.
