Large 8vo (230 x 150 mm). 2pp. autograph letter bound in with transcription, frontispiece portaits, engraved titles. Full blue levant morocco, covers ruled and panelled with decorative cornerpieces, spines tooled and lettered in gilt, 5 raised bands, t.e.g., gilt turn-ins. Condition: letter with folds, light chipping to spines with little loss to some headbands. Provenance: Ismay Graham Pattinson (bookplates). rare, large paper edition with an autograph letter to fellow american poet ann c. lynch botta bound-in. In the letter, Emerson thanks Mrs. Botta for an invitation which his wife looks at as "one of the happiest rainbows." The letter closes with "Edward is to bring you the bigger photograph, and I have yet to obtain and send the lesser, which I think you desired, from you affectionate servant, R.W. Emerson."
