Provenance: Sir Lewis Michell (bookplates). [Identically bound with:] Captains Courageous. London: Macmillin and Co., 1902; and Wee Willie Winkie. London: Macmillin and Co., 1901. both signed by kipling. the 8 line manuscript poem, a verse from his 1894 The Native-Born, is written in kipling's hand. It reads as follows: To the home of the Floods & Thunder- To her pale dry healing blue- To the lift of the great Cape combers And the smell the baked Karroo!
