KIPLING, Rudyard (1865 - 1936). Group of fifty-seven American copyright editions. New York: Doubleday, Doran & Company, 1911-1939. Fifty-seven titles in 77 parts. 8vo (185 x 125 mm). Original cream wrappers printed in green, stapled. Condition: darkening, slight soiling, minimal creases and chips to a few volumes. Overall very good. rare copyright editions of kipling works which preceeded their english first editions. These elusive printings, executed to secure American copyrights, contain many passages before last-minute textual changes present in the final editions. Included in this group are the multi-volume Destroyers at Jutland, The War in the Mountains, Tales of 'The Trade,' and The Fringes of the Fleet. Of the single editions, included is the rare Author's Notes on the Names in the Jungle Book, Three Poems, Londontown, and several addresses given by Kipling during his lifetime.
