[Philadelphia: William Charles, 1817]. Etching (350 x 250 mm). Condition: trimmed to the plate mark on the left edge, other margins ample. an early example of american political caricature. This scarce early American caricature satirizes the 1817 Pennsylvania gubernatorial race between William Findlay and Joseph Heister. The cartoon endorses Findlay while charging Heister with corruption and "Old Schoolism." Murrell p.95; Reilly 1817-1; Weitenkampf p.20.
