Amsterdam: [c. 1696]. Double-page engraved map (615 x 520 mm). Hand-colored in outline and with the cartouche additionally colored. Condition: margins trimmed but ample, minor browning and staining, restoration repairing tears. Sold not subject to return. detailed map of the western hemisphere, showing california as an island. Based on mappings by De Wit, this decorative map is present here in its second state, with nomenclature added to Terra Esonis. Many of the tears in the image to this copy were caused by the degradation of the paper due to the original green coloring. Burden 725.
