Condition: separations at folds, some foxing and staining. a rare and early call for separation. This handbill begins: "The time draweth nigh, when ye myst be, as the God of Nature, intended ye should be, a Free, Soverign and Independent State." Authorship has been recently ascribed to John Gardiner (1737-1793) a lawyer and reformer and representative to the Massachusetts General Court. See Milford, The Gardiner's of Massachusetts, p. 165.
