Collins, 1832. 360 pp., 12mo (180 x 100 mm). Half-title. Modern calf-backed marbled boards. Condition: uniformly toned. very rare first edition of western border tales. The book, which went through many later editions, "details the escapades of various frontier heroes, including Daniel Boone, William Crawford, and Francis Downing" (Siebert Sale). Indeed, many of the Boone legends are attributed to this work. We could locate only two other copies of the Maysville first edition appearing at auction since the Streeter Sale.
