Philadelphia: Woolman & Rose, 1878. Folio (355 x 295 mm). Tinted lithographic pictorial title, 118 lithographed maps, charts, plans, views and other plates, some hand-colored, some folding. Publisher's morocco-backed cloth, upper cover stamped in gilt. Condition: scattered very minor foxing, minor finger-soiling; minor wear. The publishers write in the Preface that the atlas was intended "to preserve and perpetuate in some substantial form a record of the past and present condition of that portion of New Jersey which we have described ... We call the attention of our readers to the completeness of our maps and surveys. Those obtained by special permission from the United States Coast Survey are the only complete maps of the New Jersey Coast ever published." Much value however may be found in the charming views of many of the tourist destinations along the Jersey shore. Phillips 2141.
