Title: Eight pairs of bookends in the theme of the study of humanities.

Description: Includes: Hollowed metal bookends of a child nestled between the pages of an oversized book, sitting on books, and reading a book. Felt missing from one, unlabeled. 5¼" tall with 3½x3½" base. * Metal bookends with a relief scene of a woman sitting inside of a structure of Roman columns, knitting(?) as a pet bird is perched nearby. Unlabeled. 3¾" tall with 1¾x4½" half circle base. * A set of heavy metal bookends; one with a three quarter bust portrait of Shakespeare and his name written on the base, the other with a three quarter bust portrait of Whittier. Felt on bottom, unlabeled. Metal oxidized forming green colored spots. 5½" tall with 2½x4¾" base. * Metal bookends with the carved image of a cottage, the base reads the name Stratford on Avon, Shakespeare's birthplace. 4½" tall with 2x5¾" base. * Pair of sculptural bookends of a seated man, hunched over a book, his chin resting on one hand, evocative of Rodin's The Thinker. Signed on bottom of base PM. C[opyright] 1922 and P.Beneduce. Felt on bottom. 7½" tall with 2½x4" base. * Metal bookends depicting relief side profile of Rodin's The Thinker. Signed lower right copyright date 1926. 4¾" tall with 2x4" base. * Metal gold-painted bookends of candle in front of two shelves full of books. Backs of each labeled with 18B. Missing bottoms of base. 4¾" tall with 2½x4" base. * Copper colored metal bookends of a seated man in a Roman robe, holding a scroll up and over his lap. Felt on bottom, and each signed by the designer J. Ruhl. 5½" tall with 3¾x3¼" base.
