Bound by Stikeman & Co. First Edition.Scott's best remembered and most famous work. First impression with errors in pagination in Volume I (pages run up to 158 and then repeats back to 151 and continue to 298 (i.e. 306)); "Printed by James Ballantyne and Co. Edinburgh on Volume 1 title page verso; press mark "9" on page iii; page iv, line 6 first word "Peter". Volume 1 and 2 with title page in state with exclamation mark over space between 'O' and 'R' in "prior"; Volume 3 title page with exclamation over of final 'R' in "prior" [no priority]; Volume 1, page 296, line 11 with a single quotation mark after "journey". Half-titles and ads present. Tipped into volume 1 is a facsimile of a letter from Sir Walter Scott to London bookseller Charles Till thanking him for a gift of some illustrations to his Waverly.
