Title: Zapata: A Narrative, in dramatic form, of the life of Emiliano Zapata
Author: Steinbeck, John
Description: Illustrated by Karin Wikström with 7 hand-colored woodcut plates (2 folding) on Nideggen paper; plus other woodcut vignettes including a vignette scene on the double title page. Includes a woodcut print portrait of Zapata signed in pencil by Wikström, laid in. 12x8, half dark maroon buckram & decorative hand-made Japanese tan paper over boards, decorative paper spine label, publisher's buckram clamshell with bone closures and paper spine label. Copy No. 48 of 40 copies numbered 11 to 50, with 7 hand-colored illustrations and an additional signed print, housed in archival buckram case with bone closures. Designed and printed for James and Carolyn Robertson at The Yolla Bolly Press.Signed by Wikström in the colophon. Not present is the supplemental 12-page booklet "Zapata, the Man, the Myth, and the Mexican Revolution" by Robert E. Morsberger. This special issue of only 40 copies with the hand-colored illustrations, extra signed print, and special clamshell, had a publisher's retail price of $1,650, and sold out almost immediately.
