An interesting circular slide rule for measuring contamination from an atomic explosion. Radiac Calculator No. 1 Circular Slide Rule. There are two moveable discs that can calculate contamination for land or sea. Comes in the case which states, CALCULATORS RADIAC No. 1 Z8 / 6665-99-911-0117 and 6665-99-911-0118 underneath the flap. The instructions are printed on the back of the rule. All times are measured from time of atomic explosion. 1) For LAND contamination turn over inner and intermediate discs to show WHITE. For SEA-WATER contamination turn over inner and intermediate discs to show BLUE. 2) Locate on outer white disc the dose-rate as read on a suitable monitoring instrument. 3) Set time of that reading next to it by turning intermediate disc.
