VINTAGE MEXICO 1940s LARGE STERLING ASIAN MAN

Sign In to see what this sold for

"Asian or Oriental themes were very popular during the 40's and 50's in costume jewelry, and the ""Asian Man"" has been featured in many pieces. This large sterling silver brooch from Mexico features a well-detailed Chinese or Asian man with pointed hat, carrying two water buckets supported on his shoulders. At 2 1/2"" x 3"", this brooch is fairly large, weighing 1.08 ounces (30.7 g). There is a safety clasp, and the piece is signed ""Silver Mexico"" on the brooch. Condition is very good, with patina which could be polished at buyer's discretion. The buckets are slightly different, with one being shinier, although this does not affect overall looks or function.Collectible Costume Jewelry by Cherri Simonds ... includes certificate that this lot came from the Estate of Louise Mondani Graham, owner of the Brass Bugle Antique Barn in Cornwall Bridge CT."
