Historic newspaper. New York Times and Commercial Intelligence, June 8, 1839 issue, New York, NY. The front page contains an article on Martin Van Buren and his party. In part: "...The broken promises of the Van Buren party as to the conflict of federal patronage with the 'freedom of elections,' and also as to the limitation of Executive Patronage have been considered in previous numbers. I now propose to consider, in a summary manner, their breach of faith, in failing to perform their promise of a 'Better Currency.'..." Page two has a story on ballot support for Henry Clay for President. Very minor wear. Overall in excellent condition.
