Description:This ethereal, ghostly-like figure that is central to Miró’s L’esprit depicts the abstracted image of the spirit which he has titled this piece after. Beneath the surrealist environment of swirling color which carries the depth of space central to the composition, we can barely make out a face that is nestled deep within. The upper portion is resting in a bright, sunny yellow that contrasts nicely with the red in the center, while the bold, navy blues help anchor the lower portion of the work.
Created in 1969, this original color lithograph is hand signed by Joan Miró (1893 – 1983) in pencil in the lower right. Numbered 25/75 in pencil in the lower left, this work is printed by Arte Adrien Maeght, Paris on Arches vellum paper and published by Maeght, Paris.
