An exceptional hardstone piece with the inlaid cover of lapis and other minerals in beautifully flecked agate. An unmarked high karat gold frame holds the front and the back with its carved agate base. Inside is a very elegant grille cut from a sheet of gold and engraved with simple flowing designs. No markings found, circa 1850. Measures 1 inch 7/8 inch.
Condition reportVery good noting the appearance under magnification of an old glue at the edges of the inlaid front piece. Otherwise very good with tight clasp and hinge, no other damage or abuse.
