mahogany with white pine secondary, top drawer of lower case with fitted butler's desk, original feet and some blocking, upper case with three adjustable shelves and paneled back, Charleston, South Carolina, 1795-1805, 91-1/2 x 46-3/4 x 22-3/4 in. Refinished, brasses replaced, two strip patches to lower edge of butler's desk drawer, cracks and repairs to some foot facings, one rear facing with 2 in. loss, one bottom side molding replaced, several veneer patches and repairs to long drawer facing and drawer dividers reveneered, some repairs to mullions. Provenance: By descent in the McDonald and Bourne families of Georgetown, South Carolina. The McDonalds owned a large plantation in the Georgetown area.
