Reuven Rubin (1893 - 1974) framed medallion mounted on a handsome, deep-blue velvet backing. Rubin's color lithograph shows a painter seated at his easel in a landscape near a tree, looking for inspiration to a white dove flying nearby. The medallion is textured with a relief derived from Rubin's painterly brushstrokes; it also carries his signature. Works by Rubin such as this exhibit the influences of Henri Rousseau, the East, and neo-Byzantine art. Manufactured by Israel Government Coins and Medals Corporation, no. 499/666.
