166: The Great Lafayette – Scarce Autograph Letter Sign
[Ephemera] The Great Lafayette. One-page ALS, boldly signed, on Lafayette stationery. Dated May 6, 1910, the quick change artist, animal lover and magician Fold lines as expected and some unobtrusive tears and marks; otherwise good condition. Lafayette memorabilia is as desirable as it is scarce; letters by the great magician are virtually unobtainable. With: A real photo, full-length portrait postcard of Lala Selbini (dated 1906 and postally used), assistant and successor to Lafayette; an inscribed, signed sentiment by Selbini ("Nothing is great in the world but man. There is nothing great in a man but the mind. Yours Truly, Lala Selbini); and a clipped photograph of Lafayette taken from a theatre program.
