[Catalog] R.S. Schlosser Magic Co.
Description
[Catalog] R.S. Schlosser Magic Co. New York, ca. 1917. Illustrated with line drawings. Publisher's plain brown wraps. Extremities and spine worn as expected; former owner's handwritten notation on cover. Publisher's printed notation pasted inside front cover. Uncommon. Though crudely illustrated and printed, Schlosser's wares were anything but pedestrian. His clientele included many of the world's top magicians, including Harry Blackstone, Sr. for whom he created the legendary "Girl to Botania" effect (a special backpack that transformed into a seven-foot-tall tree of feather flowers, concealing the girl who wore it). Late in life, Schlosser was committed to a mental institution.
