Description
[Ephemera] Soo, Chung Ling (W. E. Robinson). One page ALS on possibly unique Kellar letterhead. extremely scarce ALS on possibly the only example extant of Kellar's "Oriental Occultism" letterhead. Robinson writes to C. Richmond to obtain more information regarding a pseudo psychometry- type effect which Richmond has offered Kellar for sale. Signed W. E. Robinson. Philadelphia, 1894. Minor wear to lower left corner, otherwise fine condition. Robinson worked as illusion designer, specialty artist, idea man and stage manager for both Harry Kellar and Alexander Herrmann before embarking on his career as Chung Ling Soo, the "Marvelous Chinese Conjurer" in Paris. Ephemera from Robinson's tenure with the Kellar show is virtually unobtainable; this ALS is the only know example of both this letterhead and the only know letter of Robinson signed while Kellar's employee.
