Heavy gray metal bookends of Chinese children sitting on books. The bookends have deeply molded features including the edges and fronts of the books, the designs on the clothing, and the hair on the girl. The children have a gold finish which reflects the light. MEASUREMENTS One bookend measures 3 ¾†(9.5 cm) long x 2 ½†(6.4 cm) wide x 4 3/8†(11.1 cm) tall. The other measures 3 ¾†(9.5 cm) long x 2 ½†(6.4 cm) wide x 5 ½†(14.0 cm) tall. CONDITION There are losses to the finish from age and use. The gilding on the boy is in good condition. The girl has more wear to the gold. The finish on the books shows patina losses. There are no dents, cracks, or breaks. They are missing the bottom felt.
A fun, charming, innocent pair of bookends from the thirties. They will light up that dark bookshelf.
