Rookwood Artist Clara Chipman Newton Plates (2)

Two (2) Limoges china plates decorated and signed by Clara Chipman Newton, a Rookwood artist in the early 1880s. Most likely done prior to being hired by Maria Longworth Nichols at Rookwood, these plates have terrific violet decoration with gold slip trails. Signed by the artist with Cincinnati and the china's mark (H&Co/L). Excellent condition. 7 1/4" diameter.
