Chinese gilt-bronze and jade archaistic vessel, modeled after a two-part 'gong'-type wine vessel, the oval body with a high pedestal foot and knotched vertical flanges extending up the spout and opposing dragon-headed handle, further flanges centering taotie masks on a cross-hatched ground to either side, the conforming cover composed of opposing stylized elephant and tiger heads separated by incised fret-work, portions of the pale green nephrite body visible through a thin coat of gilded bronze of mottled brown and green color (some corrosion), with a carved zitan stand, 5.5''h [without stand]; Provenance: Estate of Mrs. Diana Engstrom, Northern California and Sweden
