VERY RARE CHARLES KEAN SILVER PRESENTATION BOWL - George III Sterling Silver Repousse Bowl with scalloped edge, rose & thistle decoration and gold-washed interior, hallmarked London, 1786, Charles Kandler, maker; engraved on underside 'The Gift of Ellen to Her Beloved Husband, Charles Kean, on Their Silver Wedding Anniversary, Jan. 29th, 1867'. Charles and Ellen Kean were the most famous acting couple of the mid-19th C., he was the son of Edmund Kean and was the leading proponent of Realism in England. The bowl is 10 5/8" x 8 5/8" x 1 1/4" D, 20.3 ozt. Very good condition, light scratches to underside, wear to gold on bottom of interior.
