Tragedy of the Space Shuttle "Challenger" CHRISTA McAULIFFE, Famous American School Teacher Who Died on the Space Shuttle "Challenger." Newspaper Photo Inscribed and Signed, "Reach for the stars S.C. McAuliffe," undated, no place, 7" x 4," Choice Extremely Fine. Deacidified and matted (ready for framing) along with the front cover of the February 1986 issue of People Magazine, featuring McAuliffe's smiling face. Christa was born Sharon Christa Corrigan, hence the S.C. of her signature. She was the first private citizen chosen to ride into space. Sadly, the Challenger exploded before making it out of Earth's atmosphere. A tragic reminder of the highs and lows of space travel. Early American will accept payment by check or credit card.
