Autographs
Clara Barton 1896 Handwritten and Signed Letter To Grace Hodges

CLARA BARTON. (1821-1912), Organizer of the American Red Cross.
Autograph Letter Signed "Clara Barton," in nice brown ink, written in her hand on stationery from the Waldorf Hotel in New York City, 1 page letter, Dated December 17, 1895, Choice Very Fine. This original letter is addressed to Grace Hodges, likely the Suffragist Grace Hodges Bagley. Barton writes in full:
"Dearest Grace Hodges, - Perhaps you have seen that I am to be at the 'Red Cross Bazaar' now holding at this hotel, on Friday evening. Shall I not have the pleasure of seeing your face among the throngs of strangers that will greet me, and will not our 'Job' and so, all the other Hodges come with you? Even the name calls up whole bower of pleasant fragrant memories that will never fade. - "Yours dearest - Clara Barton."
This 7.75" x 10" visible area of this handwritten letter is displayed within a 22.5" x 22.5" frame, and double-matted with a nice print of Barton and an engraved biographical plaque below. An outstanding professional framing makes this impressive presentation ready for hanging on display.
