EDWIN BOOTH. Famous American 19th Century Stage Actor and Brother of John Wilkes Booth.
"Jan. 10 [18]84." Dated, Cabinet Card Photograph Signed, "Edwin Booth" on mount below the image, Very Good. A distinguished bust-length portrait by Sarony of New York. The original backing appears to have been partially backed for reinforcement with later paper due to a closed crack near the middle right, otherwise in good condition to display the image and signature.


Booth, Edwin American stage actor who was known as the greatest of his age (1833-93); noted for his Shakespearean roles and his pioneering of the naturalistic style; the most prominent of a family of actors, he was the older brother of assassin John Wilkes Booth.
