"Richard E. Byrd" Inscribed and Signed Portrait

RICHARD E. BYRD, First Person to Fly Over the North and South Poles.
Original "Artist Proof" Portrait by Walter Tittle, Signed "R E Byrd," in rich black fountain pen, no date or location, 9.5" x 7", Choice Extremely Fine. The notation on the die proof reads, "To King Hostick with high regard and admiration - R.E. Byrd." (Hostick was a noted Illinois manuscript dealer). The image also bears Byrd's facsimile signature along the bottom border. A well-preserved superior quality portrait, signed by the man who did more than any other person to direct the exploration of the bleak, frozen continent of Antarctica. The sunk into card has been elaborately matted with a biographical plaque, then richly framed to total dimensions of 29.5" x 18.25". Beautifully framed, and ready for hanging or display.
