August 29, 1774, SUPPLEMENT to the MASSACHUSETTS GAZETTE and BOSTON POST-BOY, Massachusetts-Bay, About Fine.
One page, printed front and back measuring 15.25" x 9.75." The subject of this supplement, "Brief State of the Merits and Services of the Province of Massachusetts-Bay, their Exertions and Expences in the common Cause." This article expresses the reluctance of Massachusetts inhabitants to pay taxes imposed by the Parliament for the "Common Cause!" The article sites that Parliament reasons that the colonies have "never yet sufficiently contributed." It goes on to recap the litany of contributions made by Massachusetts-Bay from the time of their Incorporation in 1620 to the present day of 1774 both in monies and servitude. The paper is somewhat aged with more toning in the upper half, with frayed edges and a small 1/2 inch hole in the central column. The print is bold and easily read. A terrific example of the storm brewing in Colonial America over taxation.
Early American will accept payment by check or credit card.
