Woodcut initials. (Folio) 11½x8, later full vellum. Custom slipcase. Editio Princeps. Venice, Aldus, 15 July, 1498.Editio Princeps of nine of Aristophanes' eleven extant comedies. Including Plutus, Clouds, Frogs, Knights, Acharnians, Wasps, Birds, Peace and Ecclesiazusae. Aldus had intended to include the Lysistrata, but was unable to locate a manuscript with the complete text. Provenance: Early ink inscription to ai ''Ex Libris Josephi Scutris Lyciensis''.
