Author: Tillinghast, Arthur Warren Description: [24] pp. Illustrated from drawings. 8½x3½, red saddle-stitched wrappers, custom morocco-backed cloth clamshell box with gilt-lettered spine. Front and rear wrapper stamped with the address of Peterson, Sinclaire & Miller, Inc. of NYC.The rarest Tillinghast publication known, and never before offered at PBA. Only four known copies exist: Two are in public institutions, one is in a private collection, and one is this copy. The publication is a prospectus for Tillinghast's architecture firm in Philadelphia, containing drawings and diagrams of various holes that he designed. "In 1909 he received his first commission to design a golf course at Shawnee-on-Delaware in Pennsylvania. By 1915 he was nationally recognized as a leading golf course architect, and would go on to design more than 100 courses in his career." -D&J T9370; D&M 36920.
