A Caucasian Shashka Saber

Eared horn grip of characteristic form, with single-edged, fullered blade struck with gurda sickle marks and characters. In its leather covered wooden scabbard with silver mounts. Mid-19th century. Blade shortened in period, scabbard with wear-through to spine, chape a working-life replacement. Overall length 79.2 cm, blade 64.3 cm. Condition IV
