Pair of rare cloisonne enamel magpies on stands, possibly used as censers, China, Qianlong Period (1736-1795). Each censer consists of 3 parts: bird, stand, and a highly-decorated base featuring the face of a furled dragon. Qing reign marks of the Qianlong Period are on the magpies' sides; the undersides of the birds' tails are also marked.
Dimensions: Each approximately 13-3/4"H; bird 5-1/4"H x 11"L; perch 6"H x 4" diameter; stand, 2-3/4"H x 6" diameter Condition: Slight defect to 1 of the magpie's legs has been masterfully repaired to appear as a pure gold ring (indicated by red arrow in photo).
