Goad (Charles E.) Plan D'Assurance de Constantinople, fire insurance plans, on a scale of 50ft to 1 inch, in 3 vol, detailing street names, building numbers, storeys and usages, comprising Vol I, Stamboul, 20 plans including key plan (300ft to 1 inch), 2 sheets of index and explanation; Vol II, Pera & Galata, 18 plans and 2-sheet index; Vol III, Kadi-Keui, 15 plans including key plan and 1 sheet index, lithographed maps in original hand-colouring, each sheet c.635 x 530mm., French text throughout, though explanation sheet to vol I also in English, occasional light dust-staining at sheet edges, otherwise generally in good condition, all loose sheets as issued, London, Montreal & Toronto, 1906.***Very rare. The circulation of these plans amongst insurance companies, fire brigades and other interested parties was strictly controlled by Goad on a rental basis, and apparently never sold. This had the benefit to both supplier and recipient, though possibly for different reasons, of retaining interest in updates and revisions.. ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
