1965 F. CURTIS MICHEL AUTOGRAPHED PLATE BLOCK

Signed in the selvage of USA 4¢ Project Mercury plate number block by one of the first scientist-astronauts chosen by NASA, Frank Curtis Michel. He also became the first to publicly criticize the space agency's emphasis on engineering at the expense of pure science. He eventually left the space program in September 1969, never having flown into space. A scarce autograph, even scarcer on a philatelic item. Very fine.
