Rookwood Black Iris vase, Daly, mistlet
Description
Rare, large and important carved Black Iris vase with mistletoe decoration done in 1900 by Matt Daly. The flowers are in relief indicating a fair amount of carving or modeling for which Daly is well noted. The top half of the vase has a cobalt ground while the bottom is in a true black. Marks include the Rookwood logo, the date, shape number 904 B, an incised W for white (Iris) glaze and the incised full signature of the artist. Height 13 1/8 inches. Minimal crazing.
