Description

Percussion Double Barrel Rifle by Devisme, .70 caliber, made by Devisme. 25" double octagonal barrels, bottom of barrels have proof marks with an oval with crown over DR, and one barrel is marked Canon de Paris and numbered 1477. The other barrel with same proof and is marked Fait par Devisme. Top of barrel marked on flat Devisme 36 Roulevart des Italiens A Paris. One breech plug is marked 1477 the other is marked 1857. Express leaf sights on top flat with rifle front sight. Engraved forward-action percussion locks. Engraved with hunting scenes and floral motifs. Engraved triggerguard and buttplate. Finely figured and checkered stock. Original ramrod, metal with brass tip. A very unusual cartridge in the butt and marked Devisme on the base of cartridge with spanner wrench to take it apart.

Condition

Barrels retaining ca 80% original Damascus finish, but thinning. Locks have a nice blue grey mottled look. A very sharp and crisp rifle of the highest quality.
