655. The birth of FJA's career: title card for One Glorious Day, vintage pulp sci fi magazines, and photo of FJA holding Amazing Stories #1. One Glorious Day (Famous Players-Lasky, 1922), the story of Ek, a disembodied spirit that inhabits the body of Professor Ezra Botts, played by Will Rogers, was watched by the six year-old Forry Ackerman and it planted the seed of interest in strange creatures and fantastic scenarios. With the title card is the premier issue of Amazing Stories (Volume 1, Number 1) dated April, 1926. Both the film and the magazine were critical in firing the imagination of the young Forry Ackerman and setting him upon the path of tireless figurehead of sci-fi fandom. Included is an 8 x 10 in. portrait of the young Ackerman holding the first issue of Amazing Stories. In addition, several issues of other Gernsback pulp magazines (Wonder Stories, Air Wonder Stories, Science Wonder Stories), and other fan magazines. $400 - $600
