662. Bela Lugosi's "Vampire" cape worn in The Raven, The Return of the Vampire, The Whispering Shadow and his final performance in Plan 9 From Outer Space as well as stage productions. The black wool long coat with integral cape and satin lapels has interior "Bergman Los Angeles" label with typewritten "Bela Lugosi. 3-29-32". This iconic piece of wardrobe was worn by Lugosi over three decades in films such as The Whispering Shadow (1933), The Raven (1935), The Return of the Vampire (1944) and in his final performance in Plan 9 From Outer Space (1959) as well as numerous stage performances. Late in life he gave it to a young fan and friend who gave the cape to FJA, along with other Lugosi–owned wardrobe. Without question, the finest Lugosi wardrobe piece to ever reach the auction block, embodying his performances spanning the 30s, 40s and 50s. $15,000 - $20,000
