Bela Lugosi Dr. Richard Vollin robe from The Raven

663. Bela Lugosi's signature "Dr. Richard Vollin" robe worn in The Raven. (Universal, 1935) This black silk blend robe with velvet lapels was worn by Lugosi as the demented surgeon, Dr. Vollin, who falls in love with one of his patients and recruits a wanted criminal, played by Boris Karloff, to kidnap her for him. The film was a triumphant collaboration between the two masters of horror at the peak of their careers. Late in life Lugosi gave it to a young fan and friend who gave the robe to FJA, along with other Lugosi–owned wardrobe. The robe exhibits significant wear at the back and shoulder areas, some being threadbare and some separation at the seams. Can be easily restored. An iconic piece of Lugosi wardrobe from this classic horror film. $15,000 - $20,000
