834. Complete hero Maurice Evans "Dr. Zaius" costume from The Planet of the Apes and Beneath the Planet of the Apes. (TCF, 1968, 1970) This costume consists of butterscotch jacket with attached leather shoulder glyphs and integral brown shirt with front zipper closure and matching pants (jacket and pants both have interior Western Costume Co. labels typewritten "Maurice Evans").  The custom orangutan shoes each have "Zaius" penned in marker on the interior.  It is reported that there were only two hero Maurice Evans Dr. Zaius costumes created for the Planet of the Apes.  This costume was later worn by Evans in the first sequel, Beneath the Planet of the Apes, and was later worn by John Huston as "The Lawgiver" in Battle for the Planet of the Apes.  Booth Coleman later wore it as Dr. Zaius from the Planet of the Apes TV series.  Mounted on a lifelike form with head created from the original John Chambers molds for the Zaius' character. $40,000 - $60,000
