Frame Size: 18 x 22.25 inches and 20.25 x 16.25 inches; Born in Port Washington, New York in 1939 the well known American contemporary artist Carol Jablonsky graduated from Boston University, and went on to study art at the Art Students League in New York City, and the Institute San Miguel de Allende in Mexico in the early 1960’s and began experimenting with original printmaking techniques. It was while in Mexico she was influenced by the great Mexican Painters Diego Rivera (1886-1957), Rufino Tamayo (1899-1991), and David Alfaro Siqueiros (1896-1974) among others. The influence of these 20th Century Mexican Muralist Painters can be clearly seen in Jablonsky’s work. The art world of Carol Jablonsky is populated with fanciful beasties and whimsical creatures. Her imagery is very original and can be viewed in a multitude of ways ; humorous, dreamlike, profound or symbol-laden. Jablonsky draws her inspiration from a variety of sources; including astrology, palmistry, the bible, folklore, and oriental philosophies. A superb artist ; each creation, whether etching, watercolor, casein tempera painting, sculpture, or lithography is characterized by skillful craftsmanship and careful attention to detail. Carol Jablonsky’s work has been widely exhibited throughout North and SouthAmerica, Europe, and Asia, and is in numerous private, gallery, and museumcollections throughout the world including The Palace of The Legion of Honor,San Francisco, The Palmer Museum at Penn State University, the El PasoMuseum of Art, The National Society of Painters Gallery in New York City, and The National Museum of Mexico just to name a few.
