1969 First Moon Landing Buzz Aldrin ACTUAL PIECE OF KAPTON FOIL, A PART OF THE FIRST MOON LANDING FROM THE APOLLO 11 1969, IN A HAND SIGNED LETTER FROM BUZZ ALDRIN. When reflecting on the epochal voyage of Apollo 11, I often think of the plaque left behind on the moon at Tranquillity Base. It bears the inscription HERE MEN FROM THE PLANET EARTH FIRST SET FOOT UPON THE MOON, WE CAME IN PEACE FOR ALL OF MANKIND. JULY 1969 AD. The voyage of Apollo 11 was a defining moment in human evolution, when mankind lifted itself from its Earthly cradle, and began its long journey into the universe.........Buzz Aldrin, Lunar Module Pilot-Apollo 11 Terrific content typed letter on Apollo XI letterhead regarding the 1st moon landing. Also mentioned in great detail is the "Kapton Foil," that protected the command module during re-entry into earth's atmosphere. A small piece of Kapton foil is included in the body of the letter along the blue strip. This actual piece of Kapton Foil was part of the first moon landing where Neil Armstrong first set foot followed by Buzz Aldrin. Very rare to own anything flown to the moon, let alone something that protected Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins compounded with the fact that this item is attached to the letter is authenticated by Buzz Aldrin himself in part;"....due to the extremely fragile nature of the foil, most of it burned of the ship during our fiery 25,000 mph re-entry into earth's atmosphere on July 24, 1969. However, a small portion of it survived; salvaged by the North American Recovery team on board the aircraft carrier Hornet, and carefully preserved for posterity..." Terrific content, hand signed by Buzz Aldrin. These letters are rare and few exist. GBP2000-3000
