Rembrandt Bugatti (Italian, 1885-1916) Jaguar assis, 1908, bronze with brown patina, inscribed, stamped and numbered "Bugatti / CIRE / PERDUE / A. A. HEBRARD / (M)", 5-1/2 x 8 x 3 inches. (M) or Modèle is the proof copy, i.e. the first. "This rare, mid-career bronze shows the artist in full command of his style, surpassing his impressionist style and informing close observation with a sense of profound feeling and emotion. This was first shown at Galerie Hébrard in 1908, when a cast was purchased by Baronne de Rothschild."
