Miniature Portrait on Ivory, Robert Field (British/American, 1769-1819),
reputed to be Robert Frazer (born Middletown, PA, studied law and was admitted to the PA Court of Common Pleas in 1792, also served as a member of the House of Representatives in 1795 and as the DA for Delaware Co., 1771-1821), Robert Field is considered the most accomplished of the foreign born miniaturists working in America, studied at the RA prior to settling in Philadelphia in 1794; set in gold oval case w/glass, back w/pattern of overlapping hair and the initials "RF" in gold; initialed and dated "R.F. 179(5?)," very likely original case; case size 3.25"hx 2.75"wEst. 1000-2000
