DESCRIPTION: A letter signed (and probably handwritten by) Baron Dominique Jean Larrey, one page in French, dated February 13, 1831. Signed at conclusion "Baron D J Larrey". With two additonal notations at bottom signed by other individuals. Mounted at corners to fabric covered cardboard. Dominique Jean Larrey (French, 1766-1842) was a French surgeon who served in Napoleon's army from 1797 to 1815 and was an important innovator in battlefield medicine. He was a favorite of the Emperor and was made a Baron on the field of Wagram in 1809. MEASUREMENTS: 11-5/8" x 8-1/8". Overall with mount 12" x 9". CONDITION: Document fold marks with 2-1/2" tear along left center fold, toning, an area of dampstaining. Signature crisp.
