DESCRIPTION: Winston Churchill photograph signed by Churchill in margin under image lower right. Signed by photographer "Harris & Ewing" on the image lower right. Harris & Ewing, Inc. was founded by George W. Harris and Martha Ewing in Washington, DC, specializing in civic portraiture and photojournalism. PROVENANCE: Passed down to consignor from consignor's grandfather, John Crain Kunkel, member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania and a member of the Herter Committee that studied the needs of European nations for Marshall Plan funds. MEASUREMENTS: Image 9" x 6". Overall 13-1/4" x 9-1/4". CONDITION: Mild toning visible where a previous mat did not cover. Glue residue to reverse from previous mounting. Signature a bit faded but legible.
