two versions of "A New map of Georgia with its Roads & Distances": one by H.S. Tanner, engraved by J. Knight, from [A New Universal Atlas Containing Maps of the Various Empires, Kingdoms, States and Republics of the World…,] published by Tanner, Philadelphia, 1836, engraving on wove paper, page 15-1/2 x 12-1/4 in., [pencil inscriptions in margins and tape residue verso;] one by S.A. Mitchell from later issue of Tanner's [New Universal Atlas…,] published by Mitchell, Philadelphia, 1847, color lithograph, 17 x 13-3/4 in. (page). Both loose with toning, stains, minor foxing, tears and losses to margins. The [New Universal Atlas…] was the first American atlas to be converted from engraved map plates to lithographic map plates.
